Wells Lions Club raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club 52 week raffle for the week of Aug. 1 is Scott Neurohr, of Gladstone, who won $100. This was the first week of the raffle.

Fish boil and chicken dinner Sunday

FORD RIVER — The Ford River Lions Club will hold their annual Fish Boil and Croatian Chicken Dinner on Sunday, Aug. 7 from noon until 6 p.m., at the Lion’s Clubhouse on L.15 Lane. Turn right at the Ford River Pub.

Proceeds from this event will be used to help fund many local nonprofit organizations.

Free clothes closet

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church Clothes Closet is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closet offers free clothes, coats and shoes for children, adults and in all sizes.

The church and clothes closet is located at 1920 Lake Shore Dr., Gladstone (near McDonald’s). Call 906-428-9311 for more information or to set up an appointment to visit the closet outside of regular hours.

League of Women Voters book sale

ESCANABA — The League of Women Voters of Delta County will hold a used book, video and CD sale on Saturday, Aug 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Bonifas Fine Arts Center Waterfront Art Festival in Ludington Park.

Proceeds from the sale are used to pay for printing voter education publications or other voter services.
