Closing program for summer reading Aug. 3
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Public Library will hold its summer reading closing program on Wednesday, Aug. 3 with a book walk starting at 10:30 a.m. at the library.
Children and families are encouraged to come to the library to follow the book walk signs and read the book “Sharky McShark” by Alison Murray. Participants will receive a goodie bag containing a craft and a snack.
Please make sure all reading logs are returned to the library by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3.
The summer reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the Community Foundation for Delta County, and local clubs and businesses.
Legion to meet Wednesday
ESCANABA TOWNSHIP — American Legion Post 115 Legion and Auxiliary will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Escanaba Township Hall.
Fish boil and chicken dinner set for Sunday
FORD RIVER — The Ford River Lions Club will hold their annual Fish Boil and Croatian Chicken Dinner on Sunday, Aug. 7 from noon until 6 p.m., at the Lion’s Clubhouse on L.15 Lane. Turn right at the Ford River Pub.
Proceeds from this event will be used to help fund many local nonprofit organizations.
Pasty sale Aug. 18-19
ESCANABA — St. Anthony’s Church will hold a pasty sale Aug. 18 and 19. Pasties are available plain or with rutabaga.
Pick up is at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba. To preorder, call or text Debbie at 906-399-4259.
