Chicken dinner at Memorial UMC
GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church will be having a chicken dinner, dine-in or take out, on Saturday, Aug. 6. Serving will be from noon to 6 p.m. The church is located at 1920 Lake Shore Dr., Gladstone (near McDonald’s).

Ventriloquist preacher coming to Blessed Hope
ESCANABA — Stephen Forester — a multi-talented instrumentalist, Gospel singer, ventriloquist/puppeteer, and preacher — will be at Blessed Hope Baptist Church on July 20 for an evening of excitement and spiritual encouragement. The service will start at 6:30 p.m. Blessed Hope Baptist Church is located at 2530 14th Avenue South, in Escanaba.
Lions Club brat sale
ESCANABA — The Ford River Lions Club will hold a hot dog and brat fundraiser in front of Elmer’s County Market, starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29. All proceeds from the sale will be used to help fund numerous charitable organizations including Camp Harstad, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Pregnancy Services of Delta County, and The Bonifas Art Center.
Garden Peninsula Honoree Dinner set
GARDEN — Names are being accepted for the annual Honoree Dinner sponsored by the Garden Peninsula Historical Society. The event will be held on Sept. 18 at the Garden Community Center.
To be considered, potential honorees must be a past or present resident of the Garden Peninsula and have reached 80 years of age or older. Names can be submitted to Brenda Tibbetts at 906-644-7609 or email brendatibbetts69@gmail.com. All names must be submitted by July 31.
AAUW plans picnic
ESCANABA — The American University of University Women (AAUW) will hold a picnic July 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the pavilion in Ludington Park. Members and guests can bring their own food and drink.
