Legion to hold steak feed

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 will be hosting a steak feed on Thursday, June 30, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

AMVETS open house

ESCANABA — AMVETS Post 123 in Escanaba will be having an open house on June 24 from 4 until 11 p.m. Music will be provided by the band “Grand Design.” Veterans or family members are invited to see what AMVETS has to offer.

Dance in Rock

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Road, on Sunday, July 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by Ron Jay & the Country Strangers. There is a cost at the door and a free-will donation lunch will be available

Game and card party benefits library

GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library will have a Game/Card Party at First Lutheran Church in Gladstone on Thursday, June 23, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will be able to enjoy strawberry shortcake while playing table games.

NARFE June meeting

MARQUETTE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will hold a hybrid meeting in person and via Zoom at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 22.

Chapter President Dale Ollila will report on the NARFE Michigan Federation Conference in Clare last month, and the group will also discuss a proposed pasty picnic in July.

The in-person meeting will be held in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, 300 W. Spring Street in Marquette, on the lower level of City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.

Chapter members will receive the Zoom link by email. Members who are not on the Chapter email distribution and who want to receive the Zoom link and passcode should email upmags@gmail.com.

Any active or retired Federal employees are invited to attend NARFE meetings. Non-members are welcome as guests.

NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, L’Anse, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information, email upmags@gmail.com.
