Ladies Day returns,

recipes needed

ESCANABA — Ladies Day is back at the Upper Peninsula State fair, and the theme of this year’s Ladies Day recipe contest is “vintage.” The Ladies Day Committee is seeking retro recipes, such as those from the ’40s and ’50s, to grace the pages of this year’s Ladies Day Cookbook.

All contributions are appreciated. Recipes may be sent to angelfire@chartermi.net.

UAW retired worker meeting Tuesday

ESCANABA — The meeting for the U.P. UAW Retired Workers Council will be held May 17, at 1 p.m. at the U.S.W. Local 2-21 Hall, located at 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

Autism support group to meet tomorrow

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Delta-Schoolcraft ISD’s Autism Cafe — a support group for families of children and adolescents with autism — is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the ISD. Call 906-786-9300 with questions or to let the ISD know you plan to attend.

Rummage sale at Memorial UMC

GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church of Gladstone, located on Lakeshore Drive near McDonald’s, will be having a rummage sale Thursday, May 19, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m; Friday, May 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m; and a bag sale on Saturday, May 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The sale will feature household items, clothes items and shoes.
