ESCANABA — Veronica (Thiverge) Paeske celebrated her 102 birthday on March 12.

She was born in Gladstone in 1920, and married Clyde Paeske in 1942. He proceed in death 25 years ago.

Her children are Mary Grabmeyer of Midland, Mich. and Glenna Arkens of Escanaba. Her grandchildren are Tom Grabmeyer, of Farwell, Mich., Lisa Grabmeyer, of Midland, Mich., and her great-grandson is Brock Grabmeyer of Alama, Mich.

Paeske enjoys crossword puzzles, word games and coloring. She was an avid swimmer at the YMCA for 30 years and traveled the country square dancing. She retired as Deputy Register of Deeds of Delta County in 1982 after serving 22 years in the office.

She is a member of St. Patrick/Joseph Catholic church of Escanaba.
