Ten students from the Tri-Township School in Rapid River were selected to perform with the Upper Peninsula Honors Band during a concert Sunday, Nov. 4, 1979, at the Community Building in Newberry. The guest conductor for the concert was Donald Miller, state president of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and director of the Lansing Waverly High School Band. Students selected for the band were chosen on the basis of academic achievement, playing ability and dedication to the success of their own music department. Tri-Township students participating were, front row, from left, Char LaVigne, Glenda Potvin, Connie Quick, Steve Moilanen, and, back row, Eric Vietzke, Dale Svihl, Chris Rizenhein, Debbie Broeders and Kathy Rajala. Missing from the photo, but an honors band nominee, was Stephanie Slye. A donation of $1.25 for adults and 50 cents for children was requested for the concert.

Starting at $3.50/week.
