Wells Lions raffle winner

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club 52 week raffle for the week of Nov. 15 is Bob Popour of Gulf Shores, Ala., who won $100. This was week 16 of the raffle.

Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles, located at 608 Ludington St., will be serving breakfast Sunday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a fee for the breakfast, which is open to the public.

Live music at AMVETS

ESCANABA — AMVETS Post 123 in Escanaba will host the band “Country Express” on Friday Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

Thanksgiving dinner

ESCANABA — New Harvest Church will be serving a community Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. The meals will be for carry out only; no delivery is available. Meals must be reserved by Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. For reservations, or questions, call Debra at 906-241-9930.

New Harvest Church is located at 201 N. 12th St. in Escanaba.

Delta Kappa scholarship

ESCANABA — The Delta Kappa Gamma Society has announced it will again award a local high school scholarship to a senior girl planning a career in education.

Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators who promote professional and personal growth of women educators. They support and encourage educational excellence and intercultural understanding. The Beta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is composed of Escanaba, Menominee, and Iron Mountain-Kingsford.

Previous local winners of this scholarship include: 2021 – Kendra Ann Bouchard (Escanaba), 2020 – Emlyn Verbrigghe (Escanaba), 2019 – Taylor Rae Myers (Escanaba), 2018 – Amber Lynn Smith (Bark River), 2017 – Erica Rubick (Rapid River), and 2016 – Mackenzie Leisner (Escanaba).

Senior girls planning a career in education from the Delta/Schoolcraft area can learn further details about this scholarship from their high school guidance counselor. Applications are due April 30, 2022. For questions, call Rose at 786-5674 or Jeanne at 789-0110.
