Holy Name Catholic School Class of 2021 celebrated
ESCANABA — Holy Name Catholic School celebrated the eighth grade Class of 2021 on Tuesday, June 1 with a special Mass at St. Joseph & St. Patrick’s Church, celebrated by Father Timothy Ferguson, concelebrated by Father Francis DeGroot and Father Rick Courier, and assisted by Deacon Bob Berbohm. Following Mass, a graduation ceremony was held in the Holy Name gymnasium.
At the ceremony, Class Representative and Valedictorian Samantha Korpi gave the commencement address, sharing memories and advice for her fellow classmates. Korpi also thanked family members and friends for their support. HNCS Principal Joseph Carlson also addressed the students, sharing his own memories over the years with them.
Father Francis DeGroot, pastor of St. Anne’s Parish in Escanaba, gave the final blessing at the graduation ceremony.
Also at the graduation ceremony, all of the graduates were given handmade and blessed rosaries and prayer books as graduation gifts. The class of 2021 chose the following as their class Bible verse: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31.
