Shirley LaMarche
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Shirley LaMarche, of Escanaba, recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with an independently assigned bachelor of science degree in First Nations Art. LaMarche’s program included studying American Indian culture, philosophy, history, language, oral traditions, and the political and social status of indigenous people. The UW-Superior First Nations program maintains a curriculum of Native American studies developed and presented by Native Americans to share cultures and bridge the communication gap between the people of the Great Lakes area.
In addition, LaMarche also has concentrations in international indigenous anthropological studies and art. Archaeological associate fieldwork is in her plans.
