ESCANABA -- Adele Kivi of Escanaba will be 100 years young on Feb. 2.
She was born in Bessemer Township, married Hugo Kivi of Ironwood/Erwin Township in 1942, and lived in the Ironwood/Bessemer area until the family moved to Escanaba in 1957.
Kivi is loved by her son Ron and daughter-in-law Carol of Sun Prairie, Wis. and daughter Bonnie King of Escanaba; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom call her "The Great One."
Kivi has lived at West Highland Apartments for 25 years. She has been a member of Bethany Lutheran Church since 1957, and until recent years, she was an active participant in the Bethany Quilting and Friendship clubs.
Her family cannot ignore her enjoyment of trips to casinos -- not just to play the slots, but also to chat with patrons and staff. Her family also says her love of family and friends has been an inspiration to all who know this special lady.
