Gladstone Library takes Storytime virtual

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Public Library will host a virtual Christmas Storytime. Children ages 2 to 10 years old are invited to join in the festivities on Saturday, Dec. 19, starting at 10:30 a.m. by accessing the library Facebook page or the Gladstone School website, www.gladstoneschools.com.

Registration is required at libraryhelp@gladstone.k12.mi.us. Message your family name and number of children and the library will prepare a story time packet for you to pick up. This Storytime is sponsored by the Friends of the Gladstone Library.

Homeless shelter ­volunteer training

ESCANABA — Training for those wishing to volunteer at the Hope at the Inn mobile homeless shelter will be on Monday, Dec. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army.

DAR to meet Jan. 9

MARQUETTE — The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR (National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution), will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 from 2 until 5 p.m. EDT either online using Zoom or at the Big Boy Restaurant, 1950 US Highway 41 W, Marquette.

If you have questions about genealogy and joining DAR, members will be happy to answer them after the meeting. Call Melissa at 226-7836 with questions.

Escanaba story hour packets available

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Library is launching a new program to bring story hour home during the pandemic.

Weekly Story Hour bundles will be available for checkout at the library. Patricia Fittante, the children’s librarian, has put together books and a small craft to use together at home. There will be five new bundles each week, beginning on Monday.

To reserve a bundle, call the library at 906-783-7323. You must have a library card to check the materials out. The bundles can be picked up at the drive-up window Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or at the library’s front desk during normal business hours. The library is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 1 to 5:30 p.m.
