Rhys Wastell

Parents: Heather Bruss and Mathew Wastell

Bio: Wastell is a member of National Honor Society, student council, senior class president, and Youth in Government, where he was named the Legislative Oversight Top Legislator. He has also been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. Athletically, he plays soccer and earned his varsity letter in football.

After graduation: Wastell plans to attend the University of Michigan where he will major in computer science.

Andie Balenger

(Salutatorian)

Parents: Brenda and Scott Balenger

Bio: Balenger is a member of National Honor Society, robotics, Quiz Bowl, and Youth in Government, where she was the treasurer. She has also been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. She also received her varsity letter in band. Andie is a three sport athlete playing varsity #1 singles in tennis, where she was on the All U.P. Team and All State Singles Team; varsity basketball, where she was awarded many honors including GNC Defensive Player of the Year, MPC All Defensive Team, GNC Second Team, and GNC All Defensive Team; and varsity softball, where she received All District Team, All Region Team, and GNC Team Pitcher. Andie received a Michigan Tech University Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Merit for highest honor and recognition for excellence in mathematics and science. She also took second place in The Stock Market Game Program (Statewide Competition).

After graduation: Balenger plans to attend Northern Michigan University to major in political science (pre-law).

Thomas Carey

Parents: Becky and Tony Carey

Bio: Carey is a member of National Honor Society; band, where he received his varsity letter; and drama, where he had many leading roles. He has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. Athletically, he was captain and Player of the Year for Bayside Soccer Club both in 2018 and 2019.

After graduation: Carey plans to attend Northland College to play soccer on a scholarship.

Lilly Griebel

Parents: Darci and Phil Griebel

Bio: Griebel is the National Honor Society president, student council secretary, and marching/pep/concert band drum major. She has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, was a Daily Press Student of the Week, and received her varsity letter in band. She also earned her varsity letters in basketball and tennis, where she received a sportsmanship award. She received a Michigan Tech University Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Merit for highest honor and recognition for excellence in mathematics and science

After graduation: Griebel plans to attend Northern Michigan University to major in secondary education in mathematics and science.

Collin Farnes

Parents: Jenny Farnes and Robert Farnes

Bio: Farnes is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Dungeons and Dragons Club, and is an animal shelter volunteer. He has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. He is also a member of the golf team.

After graduation: Collin plans to attend Bay College and then transfer to a university to study pre-med.

Makayla Sanville

Parents: Sarah and Steve Sanville

Bio: Sanville is a member of National Honor Society and student council. She has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. Athletically, she earned her varsity letter in volleyball.

After graduation: Sanville plans to attend Central Michigan University to study pre-med.

Jarret St. John

Parents: Sharon and the late Vince St. John

Bio: St. John has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. He earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track. He was awarded special mention in the GNC and All MPC Defensive Team for basketball. He also received the Robert Young Heart Award for football.

After graduation: St. John plans to attend Michigan State University to major in business.

Megan Spindler

Parents: Debbie and Erik Spindler

Bio: Spindler has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. She earned varsity letters in cross country and basketball where she volunteered at the youth basketball programs

After graduation: Spindler plans to attend Milwaukee School of Engineering to major in nursing with the hopes to become a travel nurse.

Mackenzie Parish

Parents: Jennifer ­Norkooli-Starnes and Billy Parish

Bio: Parish is a member of Quiz Bowl, Robotics, and Key Club where she was named the Distinguished Treasurer and was a district board officer. She has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. She has also earned her varsity letter in track where she is a two-time U.P. finalist.

After graduation: Parish plans to attend Bay College and then transfer to Ferris State University to major in pharmacy.

Kyle Van Brocklin

Parents: Renee and John Van Brocklin

Bio: Van Brocklin is a member of National Honor Society, Youth in Government, GSA, Key Club, and theater. He also received his varsity letter in band. He has been on the High Honor Roll, received an academic letter and pins, and was a Daily Press Student of the Week. Kyle has also earned his varsity letter in track.

After graduation: Van Brocklin plans to attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in pharmacy.
