Mindfulness meditation coming to Bonifas

ESCANABA — In this stressful time, many of us are looking for ways to calm ourselves and clear our minds of the worries of day-to-day life. In an upcoming meditation class at the Bonifas, “Insight Meditation,” you can learn to increase your mindfulness of the everyday simple pleasures of life. Experienced meditator Gene Schleuter will lead the class.

“You can recognize the very real personal benefits of relaxing and becoming aware of how you feel, as well as the source of your thoughts,” Schleuter said. “It makes you more aware of what’s going on in your life, allowing you to take control of your thoughts, rather than having them control you.”

This guided introspective class is suitable for beginners as well as those with previous meditation experience. These classes will be on Wednesdays, May 13, 20 and 27 and June 3 and 10 starting at 6:30 p.m. online at www.zoom.us for free. In case the Bonifas reopens for the public the class will be held in the upper gallery from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. with a fee of $5 per session.
