Remember When?

Photo courtesy the Delta County Historical Society Swimming and playing at the playground are activities that have been and always will be popular with area children. Above, the merry-go-round seems to be a hit for the children in this photo from the 1960s. Manual merry-go-rounds found on playgrounds, such as the one above, are based on the carousel ride. The carousel actually is descended from early jousting traditions where knights galloped in a circle while tossing balls from one to another. It is believed the game was introduced to Europe at the time of the Crusades.
