Dance in Rock Jan. 12

ROCK — There will be a dance at the Rock Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Music will be provided by Old Friends. There is a cost at a the door, and a free-will donation lunch will be available.

AAUW Ggathering at House of Ludington

ESCANABA — Members and guests of AAUW will meet at the House of Ludington on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. for their annual New Year gathering. Spouses are encouraged to attend. A cash bar and hors d’oeuvres buffet will be featured. Pianist Lani Van Voorden will entertain and door prizes will be awarded. Those interested in attending should call 789-1905 no later than Monday, Jan. 13.

Note that reservations are required and members will be charged accordingly.

All are asked to bring items for the Tri-County Safe Harbor domestic violence facility. These may include paper products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, personal-sized soap, shampoo, gift cards, and monetary donations.

GFWC January meeting

ESCANABA — All women in the area are welcome to attend the January GFWC membership meeting at Pacinos Restuarant on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 11:45 a.m. A luncheon will be served, and the program focuses on local recycling.

Legion Mid-Winter Conference schedule

IRON MOUNTAIN — The schedule for the American Legion Mid-Winter Conference, which will be held Jan. 17-18 at Iron Mountain Post 50, is as follows:

FRIDAY

1 p.m. — Registration at Post 80

3 to 6 p.m. — Dinner at Post 50 (Fish Fry)

7 p.m. — Joint opening session

8 p.m. — Committee meetings following joint session post hall; 40 and 8 Petite Promenade to be held 15 minutes after the end of the joint session

9 p.m. — Social hour

SATURDAY

8 a.m. — Coffee and rolls. Registration continues, committee meetings.

9 to 10:30 a.m. — Sons of the American Legion Meeting, Post 50 (hall)

9 a.m. to noon — American Legion Auxiliary Meetings, Trinity United Methodist Church.

10:30 to noon — 11th and 12th District Meetings, Post 50 (in the hall)

Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Lunch at Post 50. Past Zone Commanders Lunch at Solbergs Greenleaf.

1:30 p.m. — U.P. Association Meeting, Post 50

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Social hour, Post 50

4:30 p.m. — Banquet, Post 50 (Mexican dinner)

Bark River Seniors

BARK RIVER — The Bark River Seniors meet each Wednesday for a Meals on Wheels dinner at 11:30 a.m. EST. There is a cost for the meal.

The coffee pot will be on and there will be opportunities for visiting and cards beginning at 9 a.m. Sit-&-Fit exercises are begun at 10 a.m., for those interested. Bingo follows lunch.

Salvation Army social services available

ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building.

The Soup Kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
