American Legion meets

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River American Legion meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Jan. 7.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

Dance in Rock Jan. 12

ROCK — There will be a dance at the Rock Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Music will be provided by Old Friends. There is a cost at a the door, and a free-will donation lunch will be available.

Veterans Service Officer sets office hours

HERMANSVILLE — Mike Dellisse, Menominee County Veterans Service Officer, will be holding office hours on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Floriano-Stecker-Kelly American Legion Hall in Hermansville.

Veterans or widows that need assistance with the Veterans Administration, claims with the Administration, Agent Orange, headstones, gravemakers, or information on the Oscar Hohnson Verterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain can see Dellisse on visit to Hermansville.

Dellisse can also answer questions about the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for Menominee County.

You do not need to belong to any service organization to see Dellisse; his services are free.

Toastmasters to meet

ESCANABA — Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St. in Escanaba.

Legion Mid-Winter Conference schedule

IRON MOUNTAIN — The schedule for the American Legion Mid-Winter Conference, which will be held Jan. 17-18 at Iron Mountain Post 50, is as follows:

FRIDAY

1 p.m. — Registration at Post 80

3 to 6 p.m. — Dinner at Post 50 (Fish Fry)

7 p.m. — Joint opening session

8 p.m. — Committee meetings following joint session post hall; 40 and 8 Petite Promenade to be held 15 minutes after the end of the joint session

9 p.m. — Social hour

SATURDAY

8 a.m. — Coffee and rolls. Registration continues, committee meetings.

9 to 10:30 a.m. — Sons of the American Legion Meeting, Post 50 (hall)

9 a.m. to noon — American Legion Auxiliary Meetings, Trinity United Methodist Church.

10:30 to noon — 11th and 12th District Meetings, Post 50 (in the hall)

Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Lunch at Post 50. Past Zone Commanders Lunch at Solbergs Greenleaf.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave., in Gladstone.
