Library Friends host Game Night Tuesday

GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library will host their Annual Fall Card Party and Game Night on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the library. Groups should reserve tables with Pam Chouinard by calling 280-2918. Individuals may also attend and join a group for the evening.

There will be a silent auction and a pie social, and a “Reader’s Basket” will be given away as a door prize.

Attendees are asked to bring their own games or gather a group to play bridge. Tickets can be purchased from Friends of the Gladstone Library members or at the library itself. Proceeds go to supplement children’s programs and activities such as the reading programs and story hours.

Hunters’ Dinner Nov. 9

ROCK — The Rock Bible Chapel, 4144 East Maple Ridge Road — turn east at the light — will be holding its Hunters’ Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a free dinner, door prizes, and a taxidermy display by Lusardi Taxidermy of Rock. The speaker will be Pastor Jason LaFlamme from Munising Baptist Church.

DAR to meet Saturday

L’ANSE — The Onagomingkway Chapter of DAR will hold its November meeting on Saturday, Nov. 9 from noon until 3 p.m. at the Historic Zeba Mission near L’Anse. Members are asked to dress warm and bring a lunch. For questions, call Melissa at 906-226-7836.

Tree of Honor and Remembrance lights

GLADSTONE — Honor or remember someone with a light on the Christmas tree in Gladstone’s Van Cleve Park. Lights are available to purchase at www.gladstonekiwanis.weebly.com.

Join Santa in a tree lighting ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Cookies and refreshments will be served.

Ice cream social Nov. 10

ROCK — The Rock American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting an ice cream social and open house on Nov. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The event is to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary in 1919 after World War One. It will feature an ice cream sundae bar, informational tables about the work that both clubs do, 50/50 raffles and door prizes.

The public is welcome to join in the celebration.

Rapid Readers’ November meeting

RAPID RIVER — “Madame Fourcade’s Secret War” by Lynne Olson is November’s discussion choice for the Rapid Readers. The meeting will take place Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River.

Quilts and treasures silent auction Nov. 16

GLADSTONE — There will be a silent auction of quilts and other items Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church 1212, Minneapolis Ave. in Gladstone.

The public is welcome to come see the quilts, baby blankets, hot pads, pillows, table runners, and vintage items available.

Bidders will place a bid with their phone number and need not be present to win. Bidding will end Sunday, Nov. 17 at noon.

All proceeds go to Lutheran World Relief for the shipping of quilts, baby care and health kits to places in need.

Live music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 will host the band “Country Express” on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
