Live music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 will host the band “Country Express” on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.

Hunters’ Dinner in Rock

ROCK — The Rock Bible Chapel, 4144 East Maple Ridge Road — turn east at the light — will be holding its Hunters’ Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a free dinner, door prizes, and a taxidermy display by Lusardi Taxidermy of Rock. The speaker will be Pastor Jason LaFlamme from Munising Baptist Church.

Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club to meet

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club will be Monday, Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is held in the Joseph Heirman University Center, room 961 at Bay College.

The public is always invited to meetings, and the group is always looking for new members.

ESCANABA — St. Thomas Church will hold a pasty sale Nov. 11 and 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. Plain and rutabaga pasties will be available. Pick-up will be at St. Thomas Parish Hall, 1820 9th Avenue North in Escanaba. To order, call 789-9205.

Escanaba River Legion to meet Nov. 11

ARNOLD — The Escanaba River American Legion Post 115 and the Auxiliary will meet at the Wells School in Arnold at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 for a program and the regular monthly meeting.

Elks Friday fish fry

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks Friday fish fries are held every Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. The monthly brunch will be held Sunday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ice cream social Sunday

ROCK — The Rock American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting an ice cream social and open house on Nov. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The event is to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary in 1919 after World War One. It will feature an ice cream sundae bar, informational tables about the work that both clubs do, 50/50 raffles and door prizes.

The public is welcome to join in the celebration.

Elks memorial service

ESCANABA — Each year, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks remembers and honors departed members with a memorial service. The Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 will conduct their annual memorial service for deceased Elks when Exalted Ruler Steve Victorson and Elks officers perform the ceremony in the Lodge, located at 510 Ludington Street in Escanaba on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 12:30 p.m.

The deceased Elks of the past year are: William L. Meiers Sr, Robert J Johnson, John A. Fisher Jr, Jim Rogers, Matthew G. Snyder, Hjalmer A. Olsen, Dale Koski, David Haelterman, James P. Chapekis, Patrick G. Henderson, Thomas J. Ammel (PDDGER), Ray Fontaine, Karl G. Gipp, Dr. Richard Stanchina and William Sauter (PER).

Following the ceremony, the Elks Auxiliary will serve lunch for family members and friends in the Elks dining room. The public is welcome.

Forest Service retirees Christmas luncheon

WELLS — The annual Forest Service retirees Christmas luncheon will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Buck Inn in Wells starting at 11:30 a.m. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave, in Gladstone.
