Foster Grandparent in-service set for Nov. 12

ESCANABA — The Delta County Foster Grandparent Program will have an in-service meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Escanaba Senior Center, 225 North 21st Street, Escanaba.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

The Foster Grandparent Program is administered by MDS Community Action Agency, 507 First Avenue North, Escanaba, MI 49829. For more information, call Director Peggy Ramsden or Volunteer Coordinator Donelle Robitaille at 906-786-7080.

Ice cream social Nov. 10

ROCK — The Rock American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting an ice cream social and open house on Nov. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The event is to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary in 1919 after World War One. It will feature an ice cream sundae bar, informational tables about the work that both clubs do, 50/50 raffles and door prizes.

The public is welcome to join in the celebration.

Rapid Readers’ November meeting

RAPID RIVER — “Madame Fourcade’s Secret War” by Lynne Olson is November’s discussion choice for the Rapid Readers. The meeting will take place Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. New members are welcome.

Dance in Rock Nov. 10

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd, on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 5 p.m. Live music will be performed by Old Friends.

There is a cost to attend and a free-will donation lunch will be available.

Rapid River Relic Riders

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Relic Riders will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the clubhouse to discuss plans for the Rapid River Relics Snowmobile Show/Swap on Jan. 25, 2020 at the Rapid River Lions Club.

Line dancing classes

GLADSTONE — Gladstone Senior Center offers free line dance lessons with a wide array of music each Friday morning. No partner is needed, and you don’t have to be a member of the center to participate. Class times are:

Newbie beginners: 9:15 to 10 a.m.

Regular beginners: 10 to 10:50 a.m.

Intermediate: 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Salvation Army social services available

ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building.

The Soup Kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave. in Gladstone.

November DAR meeting

L’ANSE — The Onagomingkway Chapter of DAR will hold its November meeting on Saturday, Nov. 9 from noon until 3 p.m. at the Historic Zeba Mission near L’Anse. Members are asked to dress warm and bring a lunch. For questions, call Melissa at 906-226-7836.
