Movie night at Memorial UMC in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1920 Lake Shore Drive Gladstone, will host a free community movie night Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and every third Saturday during the school year. An animated feature will be shown in the the gym for younger children and a teen feature will be shown in the youth room. Theatre-style popcorn and other refreshments will also be provided free.

Guests are asked to use the rear entrance and to feel free to bring bean bags or other comfortable seating.

Winner of Wells Lions Club raffle named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions 52 Club Raffle for Oct. 14 is Todd Henderson of Derouins Auto Body in Escanaba. Henderson won $100. This is week 11 of the raffle.

Entertainment at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 of Escanaba will celebrate Oktoberfest with the music of The Grand Design, formerly the “Bear Walkers,” on Oct. 18 beginning at 7 p.m. The group hails from Manistique and Escanaba and plays a variety of genres, including classic rock, classic country, and variety music.

On Oct. 20, the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary will host football bingo starting at 4 p.m. Proceeds go to the Salvation Army for local Thanksgiving baskets.

Harvest Dinner event

FLAT ROCK — Holy Family Church, located at 4011 County 416 20th Road, will hold its annual Harvest Dinner and Bazaar on Sunday, Oct. 20. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. In addition to the meal, there will be an adult silver dollar booth, something for kids, bucket raffles, and a large raffle.

There is a cost to attend, and children under five are admitted free. Take-out meals will be available by calling 906-789-0307.

Marine Corps Auxiliary Spaghetti Fundraiser

ESCANABA — The Marine Corps League Auxiliary Annual Spaghetti Fundraiser will be held on Oct. 19 at the Elks Club in Escanaba. Dinner is served from 4 to 7 p.m.

Northern Vegans’ Thanksgiving potluck

NEGAUNEE — The Northern Vegans will be having their 13th Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located on the corner of U.S. 41 West and Baldwin Avenue in Negaunee, on Thursday, Nov. 28. The dinner will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Guests are asked to bring a vegan dish to share — no meat, dairy, eggs or honey — or consider donating if they are unable to bring vegan food.

Fire department ­breakfast­, bake sale

FORD RIVER — Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will hold a pancake breakfast and bake sale on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford River Township Hall. Guests can follow the signs from M-35 or U.S. 2 & 41.

Potluck in Isabella

ISABELLA — The Isabella Community Hall, located at U.S. 2 and County Road 495, will hold a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite card or board game for evening enjoyment. Door prizes will be awarded at the end of the event.

Cancer fundraiser Oct. 20

­BARK RIVER — A spaghetti dinner, bake sale, and silent auction will take place at Salem Lutheran Church, located at 4304 D Road in Bark River, on Oct. 20. The event, which is hosted by the Salem Lutheran Cancer Support group, will benefit local families by helping with cancer-related expenses.

The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. EST, with the silent auction closing at 2 p.m. A free-will offering will also be taken at the event.
