Fire department ­pancake breakfast set

FORD RIVER — Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will hold a pancake breakfast and bake sale on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford River Township Hall.

Guests can follow the signs from M-35 or U.S. 2 & 41.

Fish fry, brunch planned at Escanaba Elks Club

ESCANABA — The Elks Friday Fish Fry will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11. Sunday brunch at the Elks will be held Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sons of the American Legion to meet Oct. 10

GLADSTONE — The next meeting of the Gladstone Sons of the American Legion Squadron 71 will be on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. The Sons meet at American Legion, 802 Delta Ave in Gladstone.

If you are a male descendant of a veteran who has served since Dec. 7, 1941, you are eligible for membership.

Rapid Readers to gather

RAPID RIVER — Rapid Readers will examine Donna Tartt’s “The Goldfinch” on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. New members are welcome.

Spaghetti dinner set

TRENARY — The Trenary United Methodist Church will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Oct. 12 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the church in Trenary. A free will offering will be collected with 10 percent of funds raised given back to the community.

AAUW to show movie

ESCANABA — The American Association of University Women will host a showing of the movie “The Little Pink House” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Bonifas Art Center. The movie tells the story of a woman who fights big government and a corporation from taking her property. Pfizer plans to build their new international headquarters where she bought her “little pink house.”

Members can bring snacks to share and their favorite beverages. Guests are encouraged to come. RSVP to Judy at 906-789-1905.

Red Shirt Night planned

ESCANABA — Escanaba Eagles 1088 at 608 Ludington St., will be holding Red Shirt Night on Nov. 2. Dinner will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

There will be raffles, 50/50 drawings, and music by The Grand Design from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The deadline to purchase tickets in Oct. 27 at 8 p.m.

Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club to meet

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is Monday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Joseph Heirman University Center, room 961, at Bay College.

The public is always welcome at the meetings, and anyone with coins or stamps needing appraisal are invited.
