NARFE Chapter 1900 September meeting

MARQUETTE — Members of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will hear a presentation about hospice care at their next regular meeting at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Roxanne Filizetti, RN, CNRN, clinical director of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice, will present the program.

NARFE will meet in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, on the lower level of City Hall, 300 W. Baraga in Marquette. Members may enter from Spring Street, behind City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.

NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, Houghton and Hancock areas. For more information, call 906-475-0362.

Legion steak feed

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 in Gladstone will be hosting its monthly steak feed on Thursday, Sept. 26. Dinner will be served at 802 Delta Ave in Gladstone from 4:30 to 7 p.m. There is a cost for the dinner.

Spaghetti fundraiser

ESCANABA — The Marine Corps League Auxiliary Annual Spaghetti Fundraiser will be held on Oct. 19 at the Elks Club in Escanaba. Dinner is served from 4 to 7 p.m.

Heart of the North Lions meeting Sept. 26

BARK RIVER — The Heart of the North Lions Club eboard meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Senior Center. The regular monthly meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Area Senior Center. Members are encouraged to bring a guest.

The Heart of the North Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organization in the world. Harvest Bazaar planned

GARDEN — Garden Christian Fellowship, along with Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, will hold their Harvest Bazaar, Silent Basket Auction and Luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 6411 State St. in Garden.

Pancake breakfast

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville American Legion Post 340 will be having a pancake breakfast, Sunday, Sept. 29 from 8 to 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Legion projects.

Blacksmithing demo

HERMANSVILLE — Rob Hornik of Liberty Forge will be giving a blacksmithing presentation at the IXL Historical Museum in Hermansville on Sunday, Sept. 22. The presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m. CDT. Hornik will share the history of blacksmithing, show and describe the use of the trade’s tools, provide demonstrations, and answer questions. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Donuts and spiced tea will be available for purchase during the presentation. The museum is located at W5561 River Street in Hermansville.

Eighth Annual Bot Trot

GLADSTONE — The Eighth Annual Bot Trot 5K Run Walk, sponsored by the Gladstone BraveBots robotics team, will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Gladstone High School Shop and Braves Avenue. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with race at 9 a.m.
