St. Thomas pasty sale
ESCANABA -- The St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church Pasty Sale will take place Sept.16 and 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. Pick-up will be at the parish hall, located at 1820 9th Avenue North.

Delta Coin Club to meet
GLADSTONE -- The next meeting of the Delta Coin Club will be Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. The club meets every second Tuesday at 817 Delta Ave. in Gladstone. New members or anyone interested in coins are always welcome. There is an auction of coins; planning for the coin show and other topics will be brought up.

Beginner line dancing
ESCANABA -- Gladstone Senior Center offers free line dance lessons with a wide array of music each Friday morning. No partner is needed, and you don't have to be a member of the center to participate. Class times are:
Newbie beginners: 9:15 to 10 a.m.
Regular beginners: 10 to 10:50 a.m.
Intermediate: 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Elks Friday Fish Fry
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Elks 354 Friday Fish Fry is back beginning Friday, Sept. 6. Serving will be from 5-9 p.m. Members and guests are welcome.
Fall Festival in Trenary
TRENARY, Mich. -- St. Rita Parish in Trenary will hold its annual Fall Festival on the parish grounds Sunday, Sept. 8. A harvest dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the parish hall. Dinner tickets will be available for purchase. Children under age five are admitted free. Take-out dinners will be available.
Special games for young and old alike will be featured on the grounds, including bingo. There will be a silver dollar game, craft and baked goods booths, a refreshment stand and music by Mary Lynn and Doug. The raffle drawing will be held at 4 p.m.
All are welcome. Please note, Sunday Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 8.
Croatian chicken dinner
GLADSTONE -- Sons of the American Legion Squadron 71 is hosting a Croatian chicken dinner on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m. It will be held at the American Legion, 802 Delta Avenue, Gladstone.
As there are a limited number of chickens available, anyone planning to attend is asked to call ahead and make a reservation. Reservations can be made by calling 906-428-1050. Dinners may be eaten in the hall or be taken out.
Breakfast in Rapid River
RAPID RIVER -- The monthly Second Sunday All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast at the Rapid River American Legion Post 301 Hall will be held Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon. A fee will be collected at the door.
Muskrat demo at Trappers meeting
HERMANSVILLE -- District Three of the U.P. Trappers Association will be holding their regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 12 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Central Time (7:30 p.m. Eastern) at the Anderson Sportsman's Club in Hermansville. Trappers will be picking up the trash along three miles of highway before the meeting, so the exact start time of the meeting can't be predicted.
Anyone interested in trapping is welcome to attend.
Bob Steinmetz will be doing a muskrat trapping demo based on his 48 years of trapping experience and will be gearing the presentation toward youngsters and other beginning trappers. Steinmetz loves to pass along the many things he has learned over the years and especially likes instructing youngsters who want to learn.
