Eagle Scout project makes identifying trees easy with walk, brochure
Courtesy photo Peter Frank of BSA Troop 408 recently completed his Eagle Scout Project. Frank created a tree identification walk, which can be followed with brochures containing fun facts on the 26 species of tree located at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba. The brochures can be picked up in the office or by calling Cemetery President Jeanne Rose at 906-786-7173. Frank reflected on his project by saying, “I chose this project because my dad was a U.P. logger for 28 years and loves the woods. My grandpa was a high school biology teacher, and it just made sense to me so classrooms and individuals can come out and learn and also enjoy nature. I’d like to thank everyone who helped me. I couldn’t do it alone.” Shown at left, from left, are Scouts Trevor Mathieson, Aiden Hay, Michael Skorupski, Justin Mathieson, Peter Frank, Griffin Hay standing near one of the trees featured on the walk.
