Healing prayer service

ESCANABA -- Fr. Ryan Ford will be leading a healing service at St. Anne Church, 817 South Lincoln Road, Escanaba on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. for those in need of a physical, emotional, relational or spiritual healing. This service is not a Mass.

Dance in Rock Sept. 8

ROCK -- A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd, on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. Live music will be provided by Country Express. There is a cost for the dance, and a free will donation lunch will be available. For more information, call Alice at 356-6588. All proceeds benefit the Senior Corporation.

All-you-can-eat luncheon

GLADSTONE -- The Sons of the American Legion is sponsoring an "all-you-can-eat" breakfast on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the American Legion, 802 Delta Ave. Gladstone, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the Legion at 906-428-1050 for more information.

Health and Wellness Fair set for Sept. 9-10

ESCANABA -- The Bay College Health and Wellness Fair, sponsored by the Human Services Club, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bay College in the Besse Center/HUB.

Day Services seeks printed materials

ESCANABA -- Community Action Agency Adult Day Services, formerly Perspectives Adult Care Center is in need of your old greeting cards and magazines to be used in different activities.

The pictures will be used to make notepads, bookmarks, and daily placemats. Cards do not have to be taken apart, as they will be incorporated into an activity.

Items may be dropped off at Community Action Adult Day Services, located at the Gary Abrahamson Jr. Memory Care Center, 2635 1st Ave. S. in Escanaba (past West Highland, the last building on the left behind Bishop Noa Home) or at any senior center in the Delta County area.

Memorial UMC Clothes Closet open to public

GLADSTONE -- The Memorial United Methodist Clothes Closet is open each Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gently used clothing is available for all. The church is located at 1920 Lake Shore Drive.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA -- Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

Purple Heart 1976 meeting set for Aug. 29

ESCANABA -- The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Chapter 1976 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the clubhouse building, 1202 Sheridan Road. The MOPH is for all military veterans who sustained combat wounds during their service to the country. For details, contact Dennis Grall at 789-9005.

American Legion to meet

RAPID RIVER -- The Rapid River American Legion meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Clean water campaign

ESCANABA -- During the U.P. State Fair, Bethany Lutheran Church and neighboring ELCA churches will sell bottles of cold water. All money raised will be given to the global clean water fund to provide wells and pipelines to villages and families that currently walk miles for access to clean water.

Since 2014, Bethany has raised over $10,000 for clean water. The church tent will be located just off the midway.
