St. Anthony's pasty sale
ESCANABA -- St. Anthony's Church is having a pasty sale Thursday, Aug. 15 and Friday, Aug. 16. Pasties can be picked up at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba from 2 to 5 p.m., while supplies last.

Alzheimer's walk fundraiser luncheon
GLADSTONE -- A benefit Sloppy Joe luncheon will be held Sunday, Aug. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone. The meal is to raise funds to support walkers in the "Walk to End Alzheimers," which will be taking place on Sept. 14 in Escanaba.
One hundred percent of the free-will donations collected will be given to the Alzheimer's Association. Thrivent Financial Action Team funds are being used to cover meal expenses.
Veterans service officer sets office hours
HERMANSVILLE -- Mike Dellisse, Menominee County Veterans Service Officer, will be holding office hours Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Floriano-Stecker-Kelly American Legion Hall in Hermansville.
Veterans or widows that need assistance with the Veterans Administration, claims with the Administration, Agent Orange, headstones, gravemarkers, or information on the Oscar Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain should see Dellisse on visit to Hermansville.
If you have any questions on the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for Menominee County, Dellisse can help you.
You need not belong to any service organization to see Dellisse. His services are free.

Manistique coat drive
MANISTIQUE -- The Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital are joining efforts to help neighbors in need.
The public is asked to donate a new or gently-used coat to the Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All donated coats will stay in Schoolcraft County to help those in need.
Legion Post 340 meeting
HERMANSVILLE -- The Floriano-Stecker-Kelly Post 340 of Hermansville will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Club Rooms in Hermansville.
Lakeview Cemetery accepting donations
ESCANABA -- Lakeview Cemetery will be accepting donations for its annual fall rummage sale. No clothing will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the cemetery.

Elks Family Picnic set
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Elks 354 Family Picnic will take place Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Pioneer Trail Park pavilion from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Food, games, drinks, and more will be available. The public is welcome.
Toastmasters to meet
ESCANABA -- Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St. in Escanaba.
MADD seeks volunteers
ESCANABA -- Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.
