Wells Lions raffle winner

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions 52 Club Raffle for Aug. 26 is Lisa Kirt of Green Bay, Wis. Kirt won $100. This is week four of the raffle.

Escanaba River Legion to meet in Arnold

ARNOLD — The regular monthly meeting for the Escanaba River American Legion Post 115 and the Auxiliary be at the Wells Township Hall in Arnold at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Healing prayer service

ESCANABA — Fr. Ryan Ford will be leading a healing service at St. Anne Church, 817 South Lincoln Road, Escanaba on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. for those in need of a physical, emotional, relational or spiritual healing. This service is not a Mass.

Croatian chicken dinner

GLADSTONE — Sons of the American Legion Squadron 71 is hosting a Croatian Chicken Dinner on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m. It will be held at the American Legion, 802 Delta Avenue, Gladstone.

As there are a limited number of chickens available, anyone planning to attend is asked to call ahead and make a reservation. Reservations can be made by calling 906-428-1050. Dinners may be eaten in the hall or be taken out.

Eighth Annual Bot Trot

GLADSTONE — The Eighth Annual Bot Trot 5K Run Walk sponsored by the Gladstone ­BraveBots robotics team will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Gladstone High School Shop and Braves Avenue. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with race at 9 a.m.

Heart of the North Lions meetings planned

BARK RIVER — The Heart of the North Lions Club eboard meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Senior Center. The regular monthly meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Area Senior Center. Members are asked to invite a guest.

The Heart of the North Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organization in the world. Its 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs are serving communities in 207 countries and geographical areas around the globe. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired, championed youth initiatives and strengthened local communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects. Heart of the North Lions Club welcomes new members. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 6:45 p.m. Anyone interested in giving back to the community is invited to visit a meeting.

Gladstone School and Public Library fall hours

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone School and Public Library has announce their fall and winter hours, which start Sept. 3. The school and library will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The school and library will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Honoree Dinner planned

GARDEN — A new date has been chosen for the Honoree Dinner sponsored by the Garden Peninsula Historical Society. The dinner will be Sept. 22 at the Garden Community Center. The event will begin at noon with the buffet dinner to follow at 12:30 p.m. Honorees are asked to be there at 11:30 a.m. for pictures.

Following dinner, honoree biographies will be read and certificates presented. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass. The Historical Society will provide tableware.
