Old Coots on Scoots to travel to Grand Marais

ESCANABA — The Old Coots on Scoots motorcycle group is taking a trip to Grand Marais and back July 17. The group will leave at 9:30 a.m. from the parking lot of Gordon Food Service and travel via U.S. 41 through Trenary and Munising to Grand Marais, then back through Seney, Blaney Park, and Manistique to Escanaba.

The group is inviting additional riders. Old Coots on Scoots ride every Wednesday, weather permitting. Contact LeRoy Cooper at 906-786-4790 if interested.

Isabella Farmers Market

ISABELLA — The Isabella Farmers Market will be open each Friday at the Isabella Community Hall, located on U.S. 2 and County Road 495, each Friday beginning July 19 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Come Sail Away event

ESCANABA — On Saturday, July 20, the Escanaba Yacht Club will host their annual “Come Sail Away” event. The public is invited to enjoy a one-hour ride on a sailboat or a powerboat.

This is a great way for people who have never been on a boat to experience Little Bay de Noc. Please call 280-4644 to register for a 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. ride. This is a weather-dependent event.

Gladstone scholarship and loan checks

GLADSTONE — Scholarship and loan checks from the Gladstone Student Loan Foundation can be picked up at Gladstone School/Public Library on Monday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. After this date, scholarship checks can be picked up at the central office. For loan checks, contact the Anderson, Tackman & Company accounting office.

St. Joseph Parish picnic

PERKINS — The 60th Annual St. Joseph Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, July 21 from noon until 4 p.m. Dessert and a beverage are included.

There will be bucket and large raffles, and kids’ games. All are welcome.

Escanaba Class of ’64 reunion set for Aug. 14

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Area High School Class of 1964 will hold its 55th reunion Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Terrace Bay Inn beginning at 5 p.m.

The deadline for reservations/payments is Aug. 5. Contact Darlene Anderson at 906-280-7515 or Laurel Swanson at 906-233-7292.

Classmates are also invited to join in at lunch on Aug. 15 at the Stonehouse at 1 p.m. Let Swanson know if you are interested, as reservations are required.

Live music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 will have live music Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 at 7 p.m. Friday night will feature the Ghost Riders and Saturday will feature Raven Madness Karaoke. The public is welcome.

NAMI to meet July 18

MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette offers free, confidential peer support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.

All Strings Considered

ESCANABA — Old-time stringband All Strings Considered will play a free outdoor concert at the Escanaba Public Library, Thursday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

All Strings Considered has a focus on traditional instrumental and vocal music of the southern Appalachian mountain region.

The concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library and is appropriate for all ages.
