ESCANABA — Escanaba High School presented the 7th Annual World Language Fashion and Talent Show at the school auditorium. It showcased clothing from the Clothes Closet, introduced world languages, and allowed students the opportunity to plan and run an event.

The show, hosted by Brayden Roberts, was performed twice, once for the junior high students and once for the senior high students. Gabi Salo was the stage manager and Alexis Cutler directed the lighting. Gabe Wagner directed sound and technology, while Enya Dahn directed the models.

Newly-graduated seniors Abigail Knudsen and Cassidy Magnuson were featured at the start of the show to present a video of their experiences in South America. The former Spanish students were part of a group that went on a cultural and service trip to Ecuador last June.

Students of French teacher Madame Rachael Wagner, and students of Spanish teacher Senora Vicki Volk, served as readers and models for the fashion portion, donning donated clothing from the Clothes Closet. Fashions on the runway were described in both French and Spanish.

Following the runway show, Spanish classes played and sang two songs arranged by music educator Lorne Watson. Second-year Spanish students wrote and performed original verses for the song “Guantanamera.” Alyssa Brunette, Spanish 1 student, arranged, directed and played guitar for “Un Poco Loco” from the popular Pixar movie “Coco.” Justin Marenger, on bass, and Laura Sliva, on trumpet, added to the mariachi style of the song. French students Aurora Bowman and Natalie Tourangeau performed “La Vie en Rose” on ukulele and trumpet. “La Vie en Rose” is the signature song of the famous French singer Edith Piaf. A crowd favorite and returning act, the “Cirque du Soleil-esque Tumblers” presented a high-energy routine as the grand finale.
