Heart of the North Lions change meeting date

BARK RIVER — Due to the Fourth of July, the Heart of the North Lions Club’s regular monthly meeting will be held Thursday, July 11, at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Area Senior Center.

Heart of the North Lions Club welcomes new members. Meetings are usually held the first Thursday of each month at 6:45 p.m. If you are interested in giving back to your community, you are invited to visit a meeting and see if Lions is for you.

The Heart of the North Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organization in the world. Its 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs are serving communities in 207 countries and geographical areas around the globe. ‘Under The Radar’ stars coming to Escanaba

ESCANABA — On July 31 at 6:30 p.m., Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman of PBS Television’s “Under the Radar Michigan” will be at the Escanaba City Hall City Council Chambers to discuss their show and share stories about their adventures. A book signing will take place immediately following the presentation and copies of both “Under The Radar Michigan: The First 50” and “Under The Radar Michigan: The Next 50” will be available.

Gladstone Public Library sets holiday hours

GLADSTONE — Independence Day holiday hours for the Gladstone Public Library are Wednesday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed July 4.

Summer hours resume on Monday, July 8. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will be serve their 5th Sunday Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30, in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington St. Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend breakfast. For more information call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Gladstone Class of ’68 to gather July 6

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone High School Class of 1968 will hold a picnic July 6, at the Gladstone Small Pavilion. Classmates are asked to bring a dish to pass, but meat will be provided.

Mill retirees to meet

ESCANABA — The Mill Retirees group will meet on Wednesday, July 3 at the Union Hall on Sheridan Road at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

All mill retirees are invited to attend. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month.

Class of 1963 lunch

ESCANABA — The gals of the Escanaba High School Class of 1963 will be holding a monthly noon ladies’ lunch the second Wednesday of every month at the Family Inn Restaurant.

UPHA Open Horse Show

ESCANABA — The UPHA Open Horse Show will take place July 20 and 21 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

Pleasure classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by speed events, which will not start before 2 p.m.
