Rapid Readers to meet

RAPID RIVER -- Rapid Readers' selection for June is Sister Souljah's "The Coldest Winter Ever." The group will meet at Jack's Restaurant in Rapid River Thursday, June 13 at 10 a.m.

Members should bring suggestions for the new reading list.

Beginner line dancing

GLADSTONE -- If you can walk, you can line dance. Absolute beginner line dance classes start June 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gladstone Senior Center. Membership is not required, and no partner is needed.

A wide variety of musical genres will be used, including classic rock, country, and show tunes. The classes are free. Call 906-428-2843 to sign up or for more information.

DAR to meet

MUNISING -- Serving the western half of the Upper Peninsula, the Onagomingkway Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its June 8 meeting from noon until 3 p.m. in Munising at the Alger County Heritage Center, located at 1496 Washington Street in Munising.

Attendees should provide their own lunch, but dessert will be served.

Menominee MARSP to meet June 13

MENOMINEE -- The Menominee County Chapter of Michigan Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet on Thursday, June 13, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338, in Carbondale, Mich.

Registration is at 11:30 a.m. CDT with the luncheon served at noon. There is a cost for the dinner. The chapter memorial service will be held to honor and remember deceased Menominee County chapter members from the past year. The program will be presented by Heather Dickinson from the Prickly Pear Craft Studio.

Gladstone American Legion steak dinner

GLADSTONE -- The American Legion Post 71 Gladstone is serving a steak dinner on Thursday May 30. Serving from 4:30 until 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Knights of Columbus breakfast June 2

ESCANABA -- The Knights of Columbus, Council 640 of Escanaba, will sponsor a breakfast for the benefit of area seminarians. It will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church Hall, 1820 9th Ave. North, June 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All are welcome to attend and support local seminarians.

Eskymo Fan Club hosts golf outing June 27

ESCANABA -- The Eskymo Fan Club will hold its annual golf outing Thursday, June 27 at the Escanaba Country Club. Start will be at noon.

This year, the event is sponsored by local community banks. There will be a cash raffle with the top prize of $5,000. Raffle tickets are on sale from any committee member, Upper Peninsula State Bank, First Bank, Baybank, Wickert's Floral, Escanaba Country and the main office at the Escanaba high school.
