Ensign Township Hall open house May 19

ENSIGN — An open house will be held at the newly renovated Ensign Township Hall Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., located at 9498 24th Road, Rapid River. All are welcome.

Escanaba Eagles to hold breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

Public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast. For more information call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Dance in Rock June 9

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., Sunday, June 9 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Country Hashbrown Band will be playing in memory of Jim Profit. There is a cost for attend the dance and a free will donation lunch will be available.

Wells Lions 52 club ­r­­affle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of May 13 is Lexi Jo Johnson of Manistique. Johnson won $100. This was week 41 of the raffle.

Music, karaoke at Amvets this weekend

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will feature the band Ghost Riders, playing rock and some country music Friday, May 17 from 7 to 11 p.m.

On Saturday, May 18 the Amvets will host Raven Madness Karaoke with DJ Sis from 7 to 11 p.m.

A Journey Through Grief to meet May 30

ESCANABA — “A Journey Through Grief” is a bereavement support group presented on behalf of UP Health System Hospice. This is a non-denominational support group that is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. It provides educational materials and guide discussions on a variety of topics to assist those in the grieving process.

“A Journey Through Grief” is offered the last Thursday of every month. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, 1820 9th Avenue North, Escanaba.

The group will be facilitated by Lewis Hague, UP Health System Hospice bereavement coordinator and coordinated by Gayle DeShambo, account executive for UP Health System Hospice.

This support group is open to anyone in our community that is grieving the loss of a loved one.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

All-you-can-eat breakfast

ROCK — The Rock Lions monthly third-Sunday, all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will take place on the third Sunday of every month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rock Lions Club on M-35 in Rock. There is a fee for the breakfast, but children age five and under eat free.

The Rock Lions Clubhouse is available for rent by calling Jerry at 906-356-6475.

The Rock Lions Club is a non-profit service organization that provides funding for charitable organizations and local needs.
