MARSP to meet May 7

GLADSTONE — The May meeting of MARSP will be held on May 7, at noon, at the United Memorial Methodist Church in Gladstone. Lunch will be served, and the program will feature the annual report.

Members who are not currently on a calling list may make reservations by calling 906-399-0208 by Thursday, May 2. For cancellations, please call the same number by Sunday, May 5.

Annual fireworks ­fundraising dinner

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Firework Committee will be holding a spaghetti and chicken fundraiser on April 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. CST at the Hermansville Community Club. There will be raffles, door prizes, and inflatable jumps for the kids. Take-out will also be available.

One hundred percent of proceeds go to pay for fireworks on the 4th of July.

Delta County Republican Party sets meeting

ESCANABA — The Delta County Republican Party will be holding its April meeting on Thursday the 25th, at Ferdinand’s Restaurant in Escanaba. This will be a noon meeting.

The general public is encouraged to attend.

Story hour in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — Children ages 2 to 10 years old are invited to join in the festivities at Gladstone Public Library’s story hour on Saturday, April 27, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children will enjoy stories, create a special spring craft, eat snacks and sing songs.

No registration is necessary. For more information, call 428-4224.

Steak feed at Gladstone American Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone is holding a steak dinner on Thursday, April 25. Serving will take place from 4:30 until 7 p.m.

Historical Society series concludes with photos

ESCANABA — Rich Anzalone will present the final program in the Delta County Historical Society’s 2019 Winter Outreach Series Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. Anzalone will revisit the Bernie Schultz Collection for another of his photographic tours of bygone Escanaba. Schultz was the photographer for the Daily Press beginning in the late 1930s and continuing until his retirement in the early 1970s. Many of the photographs were published in the Daily Press, and Rich has researched to identify most of the people and places pictured.

The program will be given in Room 952 of the Heirman Center, located at the southeast side of the Bay College campus. The public is invited.

Women of the ELCA to hold spring gathering

ESCANABA — The Women of the ELCA Delta Cluster Spring Gathering will be held Saturday, April 27 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 202 S. 11th Street, Escanaba. The theme for the morning is “Bad Girls of the Bible, Loved and Forgiven.”

Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. The in-gathering offering will be for the Delta Regional Child Advocacy Center. Karla Lehmann, representative from the advocacy center, will be a guest and talk about the center.

The in-kind offering will be going for the advocacy center. Suggested items include: new quilts; children’s coloring books and crayons; used/new books for youth; and personal care items, including new socks (for older youth), toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, deodorant and lotions. Sit-n-fit exercise class

ESCANABA — Fitness chair exercises to improve strength, stretching, balance, flexibility and muscle will be held every Monday and Friday at 11 a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.
