Escanaba Class of 1984 reunion set for July 6

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1984 is planning its 35th class reunion for Saturday, July 6, 2019. It will be held at the Bluff Country Club. A golf outing is tentatively planned, followed by food and entertainment at night. More details will be released as they become available.

A Facebook page for the event has been started and can be found under the title Escanaba High School 35th Class Reunion.

Amvets to hold dance Friday in Escanaba

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba is featuring country band County Express from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. The public is welcome.

Escanaba Eagles 1088 breakfast and bake sale

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast and hold their annual bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

There is a fee to attend the breakfast. The public is welcome to attend.

Forest Service Retirees’ Christmas Luncheon

ESCANABA — The annual Forest Service Retirees Christmas luncheon will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at the Buck Inn in Wells. In lieu of the white elephant exchange, please bring some non-perishable food for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. If you plan to attend, please let Pat know at 786-7926.

Bazaar, luncheon planned for Nov. 17

GLADSTONE — Holy Family Church will be holding its fifth annual Fall Bazaar and Luncheon Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Soup, salads and sandwiches will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with homemade pies and bars for dessert. Homemade crafts and baked goods made by local artists and community members will be available for purchase.

The event is sponsored by the Ladies Altar Society of Holy Family Church.

Christmas tree lighting ceremony Nov. 23

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone-Rapid River Kiwanis Club will hold its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 23 at the Gladstone Beach House. The tree will glow with colored lights to recognize loved ones who have lights purchased in their name.

The ceremony will immediately follow the Old Fashioned Christmas festivities held in downtown Gladstone. Santa will be present and Christmas carols will be sung by those in attendance.

Free cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

Honor and Remembrance Light request forms are available at Elmer’s County Market, Viau’s Supermarket, Pat’s IGA, Gladstone City Hall and Rapid River Mini Mart.

Individuals honored with lights will have their names posted on the Kiwanis website, www.gladstonekiwanis.weebly.com. The Honor/Remembrance Christmas Tree will be lit from dusk to dawn each night through Jan. 9, 2019.

44th Annual Deer Hunters’ Ball Nov. 17

PERKINS — The Perkins Lions Club will host the 44th Annual Deer Hunters’ Ball on Nov. 17 in downtown Perkins. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music for dancing will be provided by AJ the DJ until midnight.

Meat pie sale Dec. 6-7

WELLS — St. Anthony’s Church will be holding its annual meat pie sale Dec. 6 and 7. Pick up will be at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. both days.

Ten-inch beef and pork pies are available, but must be preordered by calling or texting Debbie at 906-399-4259.
