CEDAR RIVER, Mich. — Donna Thoune was crowned 2018 Cedar River Queen during opening ceremonies of the Cedar River Bridge Walk. Thoune was suggested for Cedar River Royalty by the late Mike Hirsch.

Being employed by the current and past six owners of the Cedar River Pub, Thoune has served the public in Cedar River for about 40 years at that location. Asking her what year she started at the Pub, Donna responds, “It was so long ago, I can’t remember.”

Starting with owners Jim and Jan Nash, Donna believes she began her career at the pub around 1978.

Organizers were concerned for Thoune, as days before the BridgeWalk event she was involved in a serious car accident. Showing her strength and character, she made her appearance at the BridgeWalk badly bruised and bandaged to be crowned.
