Genna and Jesse to give benefit concert

BARK RIVER — It’s time for mid-summer music at Northern Sun Winery in Bark River as part of its annual “Funday Sunday” Benefit Concert Series.

This Sunday’s concert on July 15 features Genna and Jesse, an eclectic internationally traveled duo who perform a range of musical styles from retro to soul to pop tunes. They performed at Northern Sun in summer 2017. More information about the dup can be found online at www.gennaandjesse.com.

This second concert in the summer series will benefit programs of the Bonifas Art Center. The first, in June, raised $800 for U.P. Honor Flight for military veterans.

Concert begins at 4 p.m. and will proceed rain or shine. Early arrivals can spread their blankets or set up chairs to enjoy the winery’s specialty wines in the tasting room or under the pergola. A free vineyard tour begins at 3 p.m. prior the afternoon concert. Visitors are welcome to bring snacks or a picnic lunch, but no alcoholic beverage carry-ins are permitted.

Reduced price tickets are available in advance at Northern Sun, the Bonifas Art Center and the Delta County Chamber of Commerce in Escanaba. Tickets will also be available the day of the event. The ticket price includes wine sampling coupons.

Northern Sun is located south of Bark River and U.S. 2 at 983 10th Road. Watch for directional signs from U.S. 2 and on southbound D Road (South Bark River Road).

Upcoming in the series Aug. 19 will be singer-songwriter Kitty Donohoe, whose Michigan and American folk roots have branched out to include contemporary blues and Irish and Canadian stylings. Proceeds from the August concert will benefit charities supported by the Escanaba Noon Kiwanis.
