AAUW hosts ‘Evening with Artists’ Aug. 14

ESCANABA — The American Association of university Women (AAUW) will host an “Evening With Artists” on Aug.14 at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin at the home of Carol Irving, located at 1204 8th Ave. South. Carol, who is a weaver and fiber artist, will show guests her studio and talk about how she gets her ideas for her projects. She will also share samples and give a demonstration.

Guests will then move next door to the home of April South Olson. April is a painter who works with layers of paint and wax.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher. Formed in 1881, the organization is globally recognized for its advancement of equity for women and girls though advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. For more information on AAUW, call (906) 474-6545.

Kennel club to meet

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Kennel Club will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, August 9 at 7 p.m. at the kennel club building, located at 6687 N.75 Dr. Escanaba (just north of the Wells Sports Complex, next to the baseball field). The public is welcome to attend.

‘Come and Dance with Us’ event in Trenary

TRENARY — On Sunday, Aug. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Trenary Community Building in Trenary, there will be a “Come and Dance with Us” event. Music will be provided by Old Folks.

Admission will be charged. Everyone is welcome.

Holy Name Class of 1964 Ladies Luncheon

ESCANABA — Holy Name High School Class of 1964’s 20th Annual Ladies Luncheon will be held Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the Escanaba Country Club.

Veterans Service Officer hours set for Aug. 1

HERMANSVILLE — Mike Dellisse, Menominee County Veterans’ Service Officer, will be holding office hours on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Floriano Stecker Kelly American Legion Hall in Hermansville.

Veterans or widows that need assistance with the Veterans Administration, claims with the Administration, Agent Orange, headstones, grave markers, or information on the Oscar Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain should see Dellisse when visiting Hermansville.

If you have any questions on the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for Menominee County, Dellisse can help.

You need not belong to any service organization to see Dellisse. His services are free.

The Floriano Stecker Kelly Post 340 of Hermansville will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Club Rooms in Hermansville.

Class of 1998 seeks contact information

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1998 is seeking contact information for any classmates who have not received an invite to the 20th class reunion. The reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11. Please send all contact information, preferably email, to eskymos98@gmail.com.
