Barra graduates summa cum laude from Albion
ALBION, Mich. — Alyson Barra, of Bark River, recently graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Albion College, receiving a degree in music and international studies and a minor in Spanish. The honor of summa cum laude signifies that Barra graduated with a cumulative grade point average above 3.9. Phi Beta Kappa is a national honor reserved for students in the top 10 percent of the graduating class. Barra was honored by Albion’s faculty with the Outstanding Student in International Studies award, a Dudleigh Vernor Music Prize, and a Jacqueline Maag Prize in Music History.
Barra is the child of Dawn Gorecki of Bark River and the late Alan Barra and a graduate of Bark River Harris High School.
