MARSP meeting in Manistique April 11

MANISTIQUE — The monthly MARSP meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 11 at the VFW on 344 North Maple Street in Manistique beginning at 10 a.m.

Steve Gordon, area director, will give an update on MARSP. Food will be collected for the Backpack Buddies Project. Items needed at this time are: pop top cans of no-water soups, Raviolios, Beefaroni, instant mac and cheese, ramen noodles and individual cereal boxes. All retired school personnel in Schoolcraft and Eastern Delta Counties are welcome to attend.

Advance care planning seminar April 12

ESCANABA — A seminar on advance care planning will take place April 12 is Escanaba.

Advance care planning is thinking about your personal values, beliefs and preferences for care at end of life and then discussing them with your family and health care providers. It is also learning about your current state of health and what specific care decisions you may need to make in the future.

The seminar will be presented by Jenny LeJeune, NP from OSF St. Francis Hospital, at 1 p.m. at North Woods Place Senior Living, 501 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba.

A light buffet lunch will be provided from noon to 12:45 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (906) 789-2268 or by emailing gdeshambo1@enlivant.com. There is no monetary cost for the seminar, but a donation of a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry is needed to attend.

Delta County Foster Grandparent in-service

ESCANABA — The Delta County Foster Grandparent Program have an in-service meeting on Tuesday, April 10 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Escanaba Senior Center, 225 North 21 Street, Escanaba.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

The Foster Grandparent Program is administered by MDS Community Action Agency, 507 First Avenue North, Escanaba. Peggy Ramsden is the director and Donelle Robitaille, volunteer coordinator, can be reached at (906) 786-7080.

Alger/Marquette NAMI meets Monday at 7 p.m.

MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette offers confidential support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.

A support group will gather Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m. in the Baraga Place Conference Room, 129 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette. For more information, call 906-360-7107 or visit www.namiam.org.

In case of bad weather, if NMU cancels evening classes, the NAMI meeting will also be cancelled.
