GFWC to meet Feb. 21

ESCANABA — Escanaba Woman’s Club will meet at Pacinos on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

GFWC member Janet Lindstrom will give a short introduction on how suicide has touched her life and how her healing from this terrible tragedy has evolved through getting involved with others in our community who have had a similar experience. She will talk about the Suicide Support Group, the End the Silence Walk, the Delta County Suicide Prevention Task Force and its mission in our community, and the Life Keeper Quilt project. She will also provide handouts to increase suicide awareness.

Social hour and registration begin at 11:15 a.m., and the luncheon meeting begins at noon. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 906-789-1659. Both members and non-members are invited to attend.

AAUW to attend ­musical on March 4

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) will show its support for Players de Noc by attending the matinee of the musical “Curtains” on Sunday, March. 4. Members should call 420-3083 if they plan to attend.

Anyone interested in membership in AAUW should call 474-6545. Membership is open to men and women holding an Associates Degree or higher. The organization is one of the oldest advocates for equality, diversity, and life-long learning and is recognized globally for its promotion of women.

Escanaba Eagles #1088 breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles #1088 will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Eagles Hall located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

Menu items will include scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, toast, hash browns, pancakes, French toast, coffee, milk, orange juice and more.

There is a fee to attend the breakfast. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call the Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Homeless shelter changes locations

ESCANABA — Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 S. Lincoln Rd in Escanaba, will be the next host site for Delta County’s rotating homeless shelter beginning this Sunday evening, Feb. 18. Volunteers are still needed for a number of shifts. To see where trained volunteers are needed, check www.HopeAtTheInn.org or call Chris at 786-6771.

The next new volunteer training will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Christ the King Church, 1230 N. 18th St. in Escanaba. No pre-registration is needed.

Hope at the Inn operates from November through April each year. Donations are always needed and appreciated, and may be sent to HATI c/o The Salvation Army, PO Box 424, Escanaba, MI 49829, or by calling Mjr. Hansen at 786-0590.
