Former Escanaba resident selected as international educator for Next Frontier
MANILA PHILLIPPINES — Holli (Owens) Gelina is an an Elementary Learning Support Program Leader at the International School of Manilla. She was recently selected as one of seven international educators to be part of a special work group with the Next Frontier Inclusion Initiative in Brusses, Belgium.
The goal of the Next Frontier Inclusion is to promote and protect the interests of children who learn in different ways or at different rates. The special work group that Holli participated in developed a guide for international schools to design their own models for meeting the needs of these children.
Holli is the daughter of Karen Owens of Escanaba and the late Wayne Owens. She is a 1988 graduate of Escanaba High School. Holli lives with her husband Michael, also a graduate of Escanaba High School, son of the late Maxine Gelina, in Manila Phillippines. They have lived in the Phillippines for the past three years. Michael is the head of advisory services with McKeown Marrs, Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia.
