Bonifas brings culture to Esky for free

By R. R. Branstrom 1 min read

ESCANABA -- The Bonifas Arts Center, located at 700 First Avenue South in Escanaba, is home to rotating galleries that are free for the public to view between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

In addition to displaying works of art for the public to view for free, the Bonifas also holds classes by a number of artists with a vast array of skills.

Most classes have a fee. The list of upcoming courses and how to register can be found at bonifasarts.org/classes.

“Participating in classes, becoming a member, and joining us for events… aren't just fun, they are also great ways to support the Bonifas and all of the hard work we do to bring arts and culture to the community,” wrote Executive Director Chelsea Hart in a recent issue of ArtNews, a quarterly publication.

The Bonifas Arts Center, a nonprofit, is sponsored in part by The Michigan Arts and Culture Council; National Endowment for the Arts; the City of Escanaba; the Besse Foundation; and a number of private donors, class participants, gallery-viewers and more.
