Drummer Mike Hall explains: “The Polar Blues Band started up during the COVID pandemic (2021), and we took our time picking out certain songs that would help us best feature the talents of each player.” In addition to Mike, the band consists of guitarists Chris West and Dustin Dimock, bass player Steve Strom, and vocalist Bill Bailey.”

“We would also like to acknowledge our own personal sound and lighting crew that helps us look and sound professional! (Scooter and his wife Jen, not shown in picture)”

“As its name implies, the cover band’s focus is “blues and rock-influenced blues,” says Mike. “We have many years of combined experience and we love to play live music! It’s very gratifying on many levels.”

“Last year we played several concerts all over the U.P. and in Wisconsin. One of the highlights was playing at the Kingsford Centennial. We started our set at noon and played a killer ‘power set’ featuring all our faves. The energy we had that day was amazing. We had such a fun time playing and that seems to make it all go by so fast.”

“We had a group of young guys at one of our shows, and they said they would rather see us than the national act that was playing at the fairgrounds that evening. We found that inspiring.”

The Polar Blues Band is scheduled to perform at local venues all summer long. In addition, “we are booked into the very last Marquette Area Blues Festival this year on August 31t at 1 p.m. We also have plans to play at Bay College’s Besse Theater this fall and more gigs to follow. Be sure to watch the website for concert schedule updates.”
