Ashley Gerou and Hakeem Olayanju

CHICAGO — Alan and Catherine Gerou, of Escanaba, along with Yekini and Mojirade Olayanju of Ilorin, Kwara, Nigeria, announce the engagement of their children, Ashley Gerou and Hakeem Olayanju, both of Chicago. Ashley is the granddaughter of Adelore and Theresa Gerou and the late Matt and Arlene Smith, also of Escanaba.

Ashley is a 2005 graduate of Escanaba High School and a 2009 graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design, receiving a degree in visual communications. She is a self-employed graphic designer.

Hakeem is a 2001 graduate of Brookhouse International School and a 2005 graduate of Michigan State University, earning a degree in finance. He is employed as an international accounting manager for Trustwave Holdings.

The couple is planning a July 2020 wedding celebration in Chicago, Ill.
