Vinyl record show at the Landmark Inn

MARQUETTE — A three-day vinyl record show will be held on the 6th floor “Sky Room” of the Landmark Inn, 230 N. Front Street in downtown Marquette today from 5 p.m. to midnight; Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Menominee County Dems to host Van Ginhoven

STEPHENSON — This Saturday, Menominee County Dems will host Kelli van Ginhoven, a candidate for the Michigan Senate, in downtown Stephenson at the Library in Bloom event located at the Menominee County Library, S319 Railroad St. Van Ginhoven will listen to the public, answer questions and have items to hand out.

Bayside Soccer Club community day and color run

ESCANABA — The Bayside Soccer Club will be hosting a community day and color run on Sunday in honor of the club’s 30th anniversary. The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bay College soccer fields, with the one mile color run beginning at 3:30 p.m. Community day is free to attend, and the color run requires a registration fee. Free popcorn will be available, as well as a meal of a hot dog, water and chips for purchase.

Chamber meeting with MDOT and DTE

ESCANABA — Residents, businesses and community partners are invited to attend an important public information meeting regarding the upcoming North Lincoln Road reconstruction project. The meeting will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Delta County Area Chamber of Commerce, 1001 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba.

Representatives from the Michigan Department of Transportation and DTE Energy will be in attendance to share project details and answer questions regarding construction timelines, utility coordination, traffic impacts and business access considerations. Delta Dems to meet

ESCANABA — The Delta Dems will be hosting a speaker at their general meeting on Wednesday at the USW Hall, 1201 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba and on Zoom. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m.

Delta County Republicans meeting

ESCANABA — The Delta County Republicans will be meeting on Thursday in the BHAT Building, Room 421 at Bay College in Escanaba. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include discussion of local issues, upcoming events and ways to get involved. The public is welcome to attend.

The Delta County Republicans will also be sponsoring a Flag Day celebration picnic on June 14 at the Veteran’s Memorial Park at U.S. 2 in Powers. The picnic starts at 12 p.m. CST and is a family-centered picnic to celebrate the United States flag. Food will be available as well as games, music and a bake sale.

Bay Sages monthly meeting

ESCANABA — The regular monthly meeting of Bay Sages will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College in Escanaba.

This month’s speakers are Chris and Whitney Comps, presenting, “Lavender Farming”. The group will also host their anniversary luncheon. Bay Area RC Club to host “Learn to Fly Day”

ESCANABA — The Bay Area RC Club will be hosting a “Learn to Fly Day” on Saturday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the club’s flying field located six miles west of Escanaba and four miles north of Hyde on County Road 521/533. Follow signs to the field.

Parkinson Foundation support group meeting

ESCANABA — The Michigan Parkinson Foundation support group for Escanaba and the surrounding areas meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, June 9 at 1 p.m. at the Community Action Agency, 507 1st Ave. North, Escanaba.

Friends of Escanaba Library Ice Cream Social

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Public Library will kick off the Summer Reading Challenge at the Friends of the Library’s annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 10 beginning at 6 p.m. in the garden.

This year’s theme for the Reading Program will be “Unearth a Story”. Registration, which is open to youth and teens, will be available at the event.

Attendees will enjoy cupcakes and ice cream that will be served while enjoying music provided by the Escanaba City Band. Please be sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on as very limited seating is provided.

Prior to the Social, a used book sale will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in the foyer of City Hall.

MARSP meeting

MENOMINEE – The Menominee County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet Thursday, June 11 at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338, Carbondale, Mich.

Registration is at 11 a.m. CDT with the lunch served at 11:30 a.m. CDT. On the menu is an Italian dinner. The program will include a memorial service. A short business meeting will also take place. If you are able, please bring a school supply donation for the Back to School Bash.

U.P. Steam & Gas Engine Antique Village

ESCANABA — The U.P. Steam & Gas Engine Association’s Antique Village will be offering two sewing classes on Thursdays in June (4, 11, 18 and 25). Adults and children aged nine and up are welcome.

Four one-hour classes will be offered — level one is for beginners, and level two is intermediate. Both levels meet for an hour on each Thursday and will be offered concurrently at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Pet supply drive

ESCANABA — Menards is serving as a drop site for donations of pet supplies — food, treats, feeders, collars, beds and more — that will be donated to the Humane Association. A collection box will be near the exit doors of the Escanaba store at 3300 Ludington St. until May 31.

Emerald Chase track fundraiser

MANISTIQUE — During Folk Fest weekend, the Emerald Chase 5K and 10K Run/Walk that takes place at the boardwalk on July 11 is raising funds for the Manistique High School girls’ varsity track and field team.

Early registration with a discounted rate is available until May 31. The price increases on June 1.

Medals will be presented to top finishers.

American Legion post collecting unserviceable flags

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71, 802 Delta Ave. in Gladstone, is currently collecting damaged, unserviceable flags for proper disposal (container/post box located outside of post).

In Honor of USA 250 Project, the post is hoping to collect 250 flags before their “Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable Flags” on Flag Day, June 14 at the post Delta County Veterans Park. Refreshments will be served. If you live in Escanaba, you can drop the flags off at 2516 1st Ave S., near or in the mail box. Flags can also be brought to the ceremony. Donations sought for book sale

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. Funds from the sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.

Large print books are often requested. Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.

Delta County Cancer Alliance seeks Donations

ESCANABA — The Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) is in need of bed pads. Many of the DCCA’s clients who are going through cancer treatments appreciate the convenience of using bed pads for comfort and cleanliness at a very challenging time. The DCCA will accept donations at their office, 3430 Ludington St, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Delta Animal Shelter requests donations

ESCANABA — The Delta Animal Shelter is in need of the following donations: Purina Cat Chow (blue bag), Purina Kitten Chow (yellow bag), NutriSource chicken/rice dog food, Purina One chicken/rice dog food, canned dog food, canned cat/kitten food, soft dog treats, scoopable cat litter, clay cat litter, bleach, liquid Lysol, paper towels, dish soap, garbage bags, power laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, dog collars/leashes, rabbit food and hay.

Monetary donations would be exceptionally helpful, especially with the amount of medical and police cases. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, 6975 County Road 426, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or outside the building in the donation box.

Gladstone church offers clothing

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, has a free clothes closet with coats, and shoes available in most sizes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment by calling 906-428-9311. Donations are also accepted.
