U.P. Pesticide Applicators training and exams to be held at Bay College
ESCANABA — The Michigan State Universtiy (MSU) Extension and Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) will offer Pesticide Applicator Training and Exams in the Upper Peninsula at Bay College in Escanaba on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program includes a core manual review (RUP credits), lunch and MDARD exams (Training participation required for exam takers).
Core exams (private and commercial) will also be offered by MDARD as part of the training, while Commercial Category exams will be offered separately onsite through Bay College Testing Services. Four MDARD pesticide applicator recertification credits are available to those attending the Core Manual review.
A Core Manual review will be offered 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Joseph Heirman University Center (JHUC) at Bay College, Rm. 952, 2001 N Lincoln Rd. This will be followed by lunch and MDARD Core exams (private and commercial) from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants can register online for the Core Manual review and MDARD core exams at https://www.canr.msu.edu/events/rupreview-core-testing-apr-1-2026-escanaba.
Additional Commercial Category exams will be available on-site the same day through Bay College Testing Services from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants must schedule and pay for MDARD Commercial Category exams separately online at http://michigan.metrosignup.com, selecting the Escanaba, Bay de Noc College, location.
Category exams at Bay Testing services must be booked online at least 48 hrs in advance.
Payments to the Michigan State University can be made by credit card when checking out online, you can mail payment to the address on the confirmation/invoice or bring a check with you to the session. Checks are made payable to Michigan State University or MSU. Receipts will be sent to the email address provided with the registration.
Fees for the Core exam are paid to the State of Michigan. For military veterans, the private applicator certification fees are waived if a copy of their DD214 is provided.
A check payable to “State of Michigan” is the only payment accepted for the applicator certification fee. Postage paid envelopes to send certification payment to MDARD are provided at the session. Cash or credit card payments are not accepted. Commercial category exams are scheduled and paid separately through the Metro Institute.
