Joleen Albrecht brings pep of piccolo to City Band
ESCANABA — Meet Joleen Albrecht, the Escanaba City Band’s fantastic flute and piccolo player who’s been a cherished member of the band for 30 years. Albrecht has a deep appreciation for the works of John Philip Sousa, Hugo Winterhalter, and John Williams.
Albrecht’s favorite part about being in the City Band is the variety of music, the thrill of marching, and the lasting friendships she’s made over the years.
She has also played in the pit for 11 musicals with Players De Noc. She loves watching “The Lawrence Welk Show,” especially enjoying the performances of accordionist Myron Floren. A big fan of polka music, Albrecht even won the John Philip Sousa award in high school.
