Thinglums celebrate 50 years of marriage

ESCANABA — Gary, and Karen (Kleiman) Thinglum recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple were married, Aug. 26, 1972, at St. George’s Church in Bark River.

A weekend gathering was hosted by their children, at their daughter Brenda’s house in Portage, Mich. on Aug. 27, for family and friends in the Lower Michigan area. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an Anniversary Mass at the couple’s church, St. Anthony’s Church in Wells, with a Blessing by Fr. Rick Courier.

A small gathering, and dinner, was held at the Island Convention Center for family, and friends hosted by the couple’s children.

Karen is and employed at Pathways, in Escanaba. Gary is retired from NewPage Corp.

The couple’s three children are Brenda Wabindato, Pamela, and Scott Thinglum. They also have four grandchildren. The couple, along with their daughter Pamela, enjoys wintering in Titusville, Fla.
