Bensons celebrate 60th anniversary

GLADSTONE — Bill and Shirley (Johnson) Benson celebrated 60 years of marriage recently.

Bill and Shirley (Johnson) Benson were married on July 6, 1962 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Bill and Shirley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a small gathering with family.

Bill is a retired retail manager and Shirley is semi-retired from sewing and alteration shop. The couple’s hobby is their love for each other and love and trust in Christ Jesus has carried them through the years. They have been happily married all the years because of their love for the Lord and putting him first in their lives.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Love is patient and kind. Loves does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

The couple’s children are James Benson, Pamela Lewis, Deborah Wolff, Robina Wolff, William Benson, Jennifer Gordanier, Robert Benson. They have twenty-one grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
